Technology is entering all aspects of our life and because of its changing nature it is important we reflect upon the digital capabilities we have, how these could help us in different situations and be developed further.
We think of digital capabilities as the skills, knowledge and understanding which help someone to live, learn and work in a digital society. They help us to use a variety of technologies, appropriately and effectively in different spaces, places and situations. Not only do digital capabilities help you to engage and communicate with other people in your personal life or whilst you learn, they help you to succeed in the world of work.
Employers are increasingly looking at what digital capabilities applicants and employees have. Skills in creating documents, presentations, spreadsheets and communicating via email and social media are areas which are important to most organisations. They want people to use technologies to access information, be creative, innovative, solve problems, communicate, participate, learn and support others in digital spaces.
Thinking about how you could develop your digital capabilities will help you become better prepared for an increasingly digital world.
